Frequently Asked Questions

Where will Manchester Bike Hire deliver or collect bicycles?

We deliver your bicycle to anywhere within central Manchester for free. This can be a central location in Manchester – for example, Piccadilly Station - or to your hotel, home or office. If you live outside the centre, please look at our map to see whether you are within our free delivery area. There is a charge, by negotiation, for delivering further afield. Whatever fits in best with your plans.

When will Manchester Bike Hire deliver or collect bicycles?

9am to 5pm, 365 days a year. Ideally, we need 24 hours' notice to supply a bicycle, but if you need one sooner, get in touch!

What about punctures and other mechanical issues?

Our bicycles are designed to be super sturdy and all have puncture resistant tires, so we hope to keep this kind of calamity to a minimum.

But if problems do happen, we’ll keep the hassle to a minimum. Just call, text or email us, letting us know what’s wrong with the bicycle and where it is. Then lock it up and we’ll be along ASAP to either fix or replace the bicycle.

Any damage to the bicycle caused by negligence, improper use or abuse is the hirer's responsibility and any costs will be collected in full.

More information can be found in our hire terms and conditions.

Do you hire out other types of bike besides your city bike?

Not yet, but we sometimes get requests for racing/road bikes, child seats fitted to the bike, mountain bikes and so on. Please use the Contact form to tell us what you would like to hire. Over time, we hope to expand the range and this will help us decide what to get in.

Why these bicycles?

While the Brits may know a thing or two about leading Le Tour, we can certainly learn from our European cousins on cool city cycling. Designed and made in Scotland, the Paper Bicycle is a British take on a classic European type of machine. We think it’s relaxed, practical cycling at its very best! Visit the Paper Bicycle website to find out more about these great bicycles.

How much does bicycle hire cost?

It all depends on how long you need a bicycle for. Hire plans are flexible to suit you; short term hire starts from £20 for a single day, while long term hire is available from just £1 a day. Find out more about our hire pricing.

We require £100 deposit per bicycle. This will be collected by credit or debit card transfer when we deliver the bicycles. The deposit will be refunded when you return your hire bicycle safe and sound.

What about helmets?

We do not currently provide helmets with hire bicycles. If you would like to purchase your own helmet, we can recommend several great local bike shops.
